Our extra-curricular highlights
Chess
Earlier this year our students competed in a chess tournament, competing against students from other schools in the Crookwell, Goulburn and Southern Highlands districts. Congratulations to our students who finished the tournament with an impressive 2nd place out of 22 competing teams.
Creative and performing arts
Our year 5 & 6 students are offered the opportunity to attend the Transitions Small Schools Creative Arts Camp.
We attend a Meerkat Productions performance each year with our other small schools.
We have attended Musica Viva performances supported by the Hume Conservatorium
Trips and excursions
Each term Laggan, Bigga and Binda Public Schools each host a Shared Learning Day, where staff and students come together for a day of fun and learning together.
Our year 5 & 6 students have attended the Transitions Small Schools Creative Arts Camp with 134 students from 36 other small schools. And had a BLAST!
We travel to Goulburn for visits to the art gallery, Hume Conservatorium, for sporting gala days.
In October 4 of our students will travel to Sydney to compete in the PSSA State Athletic Championships.
Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program
The SAKGP has featured heavily in our student learning over the past 12 years. Students are involved in all aspects of growing fresh food including bed preparation, growing and transferring seedlings, feeding growing plants & harvesting fresh food to take to our kitchen to use in when they prepare delicious dishes for everyone to enjoy.
Sporting Schools Grants
Most terms our school secures financial support to run additional sporting opportunities for our students to engage and participate in. Funding enables us to engage suitably qualified instructors with programs that support fitness and healthy living goals that the students love to participate in. Gymnastics is always a favourite, but other sports we have engaged include, soccer, t-ball, golf, swimming and tennis. Who knows what the term will bring??
