Garden to kitchen program

Now into our twelfth year, the Laggan Public School is proud to be a part of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen to Garden Foundation (SAKGF). Our school uses resources from the SAKGF Shared Table Program and implements these to outdoor learning in our vegetable garden, playgrounds and kitchen lessons on a weekly basis. The students learn about horticulture principles, growing plants and cooking techniques using the produce grown in the school’s vegetable patch. A win, win for health and wellbeing of our students!

Students in our garden are getting their hands in the soil, discovering the importance of fresh produce and how to grow their own vegetables and herbs. It all starts with a seed.

We cook what we grow! Well at least some of the produce makes it to the kitchen.

Our Garden to Kitchen program is a fun way to learn more about science, mathematics, horticulture and of course how to cook some delicious food fresh from the garden.

Our garden and vegetable patch is a world of discovery and a great outside classroom!
